While being involved in its development from the start, CAMTECS has recently conducted a packaging study for the very promising Eckendorff device. Invented by Jean-Pierre Eckendorff of France, the device has already undergone testing and evaluation at two major automotive OEMs. Integrated in or near a car's seat, its purpose is to absorb the energy to which the occupant of a motor vehicule is exposed during a crash. CAMTECS did a complete packaging study to implement the device in a racecar safety tube frame. Calculations show that it will dissipate 1000 Joules of energy on impact, thus reducing substantially the initial blow to which the occupant is exposed. This innovation in safety equipment will allow to further reduce the risks of major and fatal injuries to which racecar drivers are exposed.
Green GT, a car manufacturer in Switzerland, to develop a racing car and FIA-spec, that if they are connected to everything else, can drive their way to Le Mans, sooner rather than later.
